Sandy Hawley Park consultation is off to the races

OSHAWA – The City of Oshawa is developing Sandy Hawley Park at 2500 Kentucky Derby Way and wants to hear from you on the proposed concept. The new park is named in honour of Oshawa native and member of Canada’s Horse Racing Hall of Fame and the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame, Sandy Hawley.

The proposed concept for Sandy Hawley Park features new open space and recreational facilities, including a soccer pitch, half basketball court, playground, splash pad, sandbox and gathering space.

Community members are invited to have their say:

  • Online on Connect Oshawa (www.connectoshawa.ca/SandyHawley);
  • On paper at Service Oshawa (50 Centre St. S.); or,
  • In person at a drop-in open house on Wednesday, November 27 between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the Leisure Room at Delpark Homes Centre (formerly Legends Centre) (1661 Harmony Rd. N.).

Feedback will be received until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 and considered in the selection of the types of playground components that may be installed in the park. The proposed design will be presented to Community Services Committee in early 2020, with construction tentatively scheduled to take place the same year.
